Internet and Business Online - The Psychological Addiction

At one time computers were said to have the capacity of freeing up our time to such a degree that we might only need to work 20 hours a week.
In our 21st century world we have entire families who have their own computer. Each family member has a cell phone and our cars are outfitted to help us stay connected.
Laptops are taken to coffee shops and bistros and normal conversations are interrupted by incoming messages.
Not only are we still working 40+ hours a week we often take our work home with us and stay connected with the office on a consistent basis.
The online world has become so much a normal part of our lives that we stay online even when we don't really need to. We are accustomed to interaction and the World Wide Web allows that to happen.
The world is listening to music on the web, they are watching video on demand and they are instant messaging and emailing at a phenomenal rate.
Children are asking for more time on the web than they are television time.
The Internet has revolutionized our lives, but instead of freeing us up from work it has simply enticed us to do more.
As we understand more computer concepts and use them in our business and personal life we have a desire to learn more and do more with what we know. The computer has become an unusual motivator.
It's interesting to watch teens that would rather text each other than speak face to face.
Movies like "You've Got Mail" and "Cinderella Story" both feature online correspondence as the primary means of relationship building between the main characters of the story.
The Internet has radically altered the way the world does business. Currency exchanges are not an issue with international orders, as credit card companies and PayPal tend to work that out without an issue for either the consumer of the business owner.
Many online users wonder why they would want to shop in physical stores when they can visually see what they are shopping for and compare prices from multiple online stores - all from the comfort of wherever they might be.
In spite of difficulties with viruses, adware, spyware and malware the Internet remains a powerful medium for online business and fulfilling personal interests.
I think it's possible there may be a psychologically addictive nature to the online world. I've even been known to say; "I'll head to bed in a minute. Just let me check my emails first."
Checking emails can also mean checking a few forum boards or blogs I am a part of. Checking my online business ventures and perhaps taking care of a few web design elements.
Sometimes I think it would be cataclysmic if there should come a day when the Internet went away. We rely on this cyber universe in a way that it remarkable and somewhat surprising.
The good news for web users is that the very nature of the web means that it is dependent on multiple sources to work. It would be virtually impossible to knock out the Internet.
They can't knock it out, right? I've got email to read.

Internet and Business Online - Reverse Psychology

Online business isn't for you. No, it's far too much work and there are too many unknowns.
It's ridiculous to think that anyone would seriously consider developing a business for the web; after all there are marketing strategies that are somewhat different than traditional stores.
You have to think things through. There's merchant accounts to set up, a web site to design. You have to worry about terms like SEO, PPC and RSS and how they might affect your business and its future growth.
In online business you don't get to see people face to face, but you want email addresses from people who do drop by.
The technical issues of running an online store are mind blowing. Just thinking about the many details that have to work together in Internet business is enough to make you want to run and hide.
Yes, it's much easier to simply stay working for someone else who makes the decisions and just leaves you to do the things you've always done.
Sure you have dreams for your future, but it's safer to think that you could have done something if you really wanted to than to try, and fail.
Nope, online business is a bad idea. To many risks, too much work and not enough assurance that it will be worth it in the end. Perhaps it's best to simply avoid the appearance of being a dreamer. Dreamers are simply not very sensible.
You know this whole scenario reminds me of a motivation poster I once saw which read, "For every winner there are dozens of losers. Odds are you're one of them."
OK, everything said so far was designed to provide a sense of reverse psychology. The truth is developing an online business is hard work and there are unknowns. The harder truth is that not every online business will be successful.
You may have to give up a certain sense of security to launch a business website, but sometimes the passion associated with the dream of business ownership becomes so big it can't stay inside and it won't go away.
There will be terms and strategies you will need to learn and utilize, but this becomes part of the adventure instead of the roadblock you always thought it was.
Maybe the best way to describe the start of an online business is to describe what it is like to start an exercise and weight loss program. It's easier to simply avoid the process or simply think you will do it someday, but that day is always somewhere just beyond the next 24 hours. When you finally decide to do something about it the hard days at the beginning give way to a fighting trim that makes online business not only possible, but also potentially profitable.
As demonstrated at the beginning of this article it is very easy to become pessimistic about an individual's ability to successfully launch an online business. It can be easy to listen to voices that say it can't be done. But it can be very satisfying to simply take charge of your decision-making and then watch a 'business' flower bloom in the wasteland of Nevergonnahappen.

Internet and Business Online - Some People Just Don't Want Success

Believe it or not, some people don't want success. Think I'm kidding? Let me tell you something. A lot of folks talk a really good game. They say how they'd do anything for success. But when it comes down to the brass tactics, they're no place to be found. They don't respond to your communications or anything. After reading this article and a few true stories, you'll realize that what I am saying is true. Some people really won't do what it takes to be successful.
A long time ago, I offered coaching to a class of 20 students. It was truly the deal of a lifetime. These people all said that they wanted to succeed and would do anything to succeed. So I wrote up a game plan for the 30 days... yes... 30 days...and gave it to each one. It was quite extensive and covered a number of topics from business planning to copywriting. I left no stone unturned. Well, when the 30 days ended, out of the 20 people in the class, only ONE actually finished the whole course. That's it...ONE. I have no idea what happened to the rest of them. Some, I never heard from after the FIRST DAY.
More recently, actually it's going on right now, somebody at the Warrior Forum made an offer to one lucky person to give them free hosting. Other people chipped in other services and I even offered free coaching for seven whole days. The package was incredible. Two days into the offer, there was ONE person who even applied. Here we have a forum full of new people looking to have some success and two days into the offer, we had ONE person apply for it. The apathy is just amazing. You would have thought they'd be coming out of the woodwork BEGGING for this offer.
Finally, my favorite story is the one where I actually offered to setup this guy's business for him. I'm talking about hosting, a site, a product...everything. I was going to do all the work and get him up and running so that everything would run on autopilot. All he had to do was sit back and collect the money. Yes, it was a personal friend of mine. I don't do this for everybody. Guess what? He turned me down. He said he didn't have the time. What? Didn't have the time to sit back and collect money?
I'm telling you folks. Some people do NOT want to succeed. I don't know if it's because they're afraid of success or what, but some people would rather be failures.
Hard to believe, but true.

Internet and Business - Online Passion is the Vein

The human body is a complex piece of machinery. The blood that we have coursing through our veins carries oxygen to all parts of the body, delivers hormones and other signal messengers to the body and works to eliminate waste from the blood stream. In short our bodies could not exist without a blood supply.
The same concept is true of the entrepreneur in home-based and online business.
Passion is the vein that carries the lifeblood of the entrepreneur. Passion is the conveyor belt that takes your dream live and moves it to market.
I love word pictures. I think they can help individuals understand a concept on a more emotionally intuitive level. We all have ideas we want to express so the use of the human body or a conveyor belt may help you understand that passion in online business is a powerful thing.
Passion is the vein that carries the lifeblood of the entrepreneur.
Let me take this phrase by phrase so you can more fully appreciate the depth of the statement.
Passion - The enthusiasm each of us have for an idea. This idea is often of our own imagination and is a vital part of the process of dream fulfillment.
The vein - This is the connection that makes it possible for the idea to flow freely.
The Lifeblood - This is the life sustaining part of your dream. It can be likened to the satisfaction and effort you must put into dream fulfillment.
The Entrepreneur - This is you. This is the beneficiary of dream fulfillment.
There is a process to this idea. The entrepreneur conceives an idea. As long as the idea stays in the brain it can do neither harm nor good. Without the passion the dream cannot be sustained and will eventually die.
A dream that is pursued half-heartedly will be anemic at best and dead on arrival at worst.
Just like the human body, the human spirit has to have many working parts in order to realize the end result of a passion-filled dream.
Beware of blood flow restrictors.
In the context of a home-based or online business blood flow restrictors are those things that by design or by accident cause you to distrust your dream. This can be a well-intentioned family member or friend that may indicate the idea may not be as well thought out as it should be.
You should seek advice, but the ultimate dream is often something that others cannot understand in concept until you show them in reality.
Blood flow restrictors are those that maliciously seek to point out any fault or weakness in an effort to convince you to lay down your dream and give up.
Dreams are fragile creatures that must be nourished and nurtured. It can be hard to see a dream bludgeoned by those who may never understand your passionate pursuit of something so personal it is often impossible to explain.
Allow your passion for a dream to carry the full essence of your idea, allow it to carry in fresh oxygen and remove waste. Your dream may not be real yet, but with the help of passion it may prove attainable sooner than you expect.

Internet and Business Online Providing a Global Connection

There is an interesting paradigm shift that is happening in the way people respond to life in our world. A paradigm shift is a change in the way people look at things.
In our distant past people were tied to a patch of land where they raised crops or livestock. They had a few stores in their immediate region and that's where they conducted any business they needed for their operation.
As years passed larger department stores arrived. Cars were built to drive faster and longer. Roads were improved and the Interstate system developed. Soon people were dreaming of far away places and visiting relatives hundreds of miles away. People saw beautiful places only described in brochures and on postcards.
Soon, extended vacations were the norm. Sometimes families would fly halfway around the world to enjoy an exotic location or they would find a place on a cruise ship and enjoy a tropical climate.
Then came the Internet.
Suddenly people found it much easier to carry on conversations with other people from a variety of cultures. The world was not the large ominous place they once thought. The world shrunk. Communication became instantaneous and international friendships were forged.
As gas prices continue to rise it becomes more and more difficult to pay for long trips and air travel. We are reverting back to spending more time on our little patch of terra firma, but now we have something our forefathers did not.
Today we can stay in contact with business associates around the world and we can do so with a few simple keystrokes and clicks. We can gain access to video conferences and can even talk over the web.
We can travel virtually anywhere without ever leaving home.
Business has understood this change in dynamics. While some stores are closing shop others have made the move to an online environment and welcomed those international cyber travelers to drop by and pick something up from their trip.
Internet businesses are delivering an impressive number of packages directly to the door of those who order.
Many consumers are finding it much easier to simply stay home and shop than to use precious fuel heading to multiple shops, trying to find a parking spot and waiting in lines.
What some businesses may have believed was a novelty that would wear off has become huge business. There may be less impulse buying online, but it hasn't stopped people who have a need or desire from finding the products they want and having them shipped in.
There may not be as many family farms anymore, but many people are becoming increasingly tied to the place where they live. What has made this bearable for those who enjoy other locations is the fact that the Internet brings it all home any time of the day or night.
With transportation costs continuing to escalate it is likely that online shopping will continue to increase in a medium that facilitates global connection.
